Před změnou jejich jméno k Darkthrone v pozdní 1987 se jim říkalo černá smrt . Darkthrone název byl inspirován dánským zine z celého 1985/86 tzv. trnka, napsal kluci z dánské kapely DesExult , stejně jako slova Celtic Frost píseň "Jewel trůn" (já jsem král, sedící v tmě skrývá před stínu větru /.../ Jak jsem zrak od Jewel ...zobrazit originál

Before changing their name to Darkthrone in late 1987 they were called Black Death .
